The Hives
Well, it seems my luck is rather poor concerning my health. A few days ago some red spots appeared on my hands. I would classify them as hives. They are hot and itch more than I would like to admit. They are unsightly as well.
I went to the doctor today. He said he was concerned since hives do not normally show on both the back and plams of the hand. More disturbing, he discovered that I have a heart murmur. He has been my doctor for almost 20 years and has never detected one before, so it must be within the past year. It seems hard to believe that I could be in such great shape before only to fall victim to some unusual condition.
Is this related to the mysterious illenss I had in August? Who knows…
Is this related to the insect bite back in Arpil?
Well, hopefully I will have some answers soon. I had extensive blood work done today at the hospital. It was one of the same women who took my blood before my surgery. She was competent. She said she would take good care of me, and she did. Near the end she asked me if I felt okay- she had taken 12 vials of blood for the tests.
I really hope they find something. It is always much nicer to have an explanation. I think I would jump for joy if it were Lyme’s Disease, becuase at least that is treatable.
I have included a couple of pictures in case anyone is curious:
Here is another view of the back of the hand:
And here is a picture of the insect bite I received in April in the uncharted wilds of Tyngsboro, Massachusetts that could be responsible for all of this:

lyme disease often starts off with a rash in the shape of a circle. My gf was just diagnosed with it. She was extremely exhausted and having all sorts of muscle pains. She is almost done with the antibiotics. They should def test for that, it can have all sorts of odd symptoms. From what I know, hives are usually the result of your body reacting to something, it’s like an allergic reaction, most likely from an insect bite, but it can be from a bacteria or virus too. Good thing they took all that blood they can check for a lot of diff things.

The only reference I found to someone having hives on both sides of the hands was to a woman who had a daughter who had a severe reaction to peanuts. Hmmm now I am interested, I like watching CSI and stuff. Hmmmmm

Didn’t you eat a peanut and jelly sandwich before your throat started to close up? Get allergy tested for peanuts, man! And quick! And no more peanuts!!!

I bet it is allergy to your antibiotics. If so, well, I am a winner. If not, I am still a winner because I guessed some thing totally different!!!!!!!!!

Hiiiiii Dave,
This is troubling indeed.
If it is not one thing it is another. I am so sorry for all your going through.
I hope they figure it out and find a cure fast!
Please refuse any slayer tasks involving swarms until the mystery is solved. hehe
Wishing you all the best!
Love and hugs,
Sue

I think it’s the insect bite. Always did worry about Lyme’s or something similar even back when it happened. So glad you took those pictures. I’d forgotten how awful the hives looked! Be sure to send those photos to the rheumatologist’s when you go (I don’t think the print-outs on plain paper look as good). You will overcome in the end!!! Just want the end sooner than later:) !!

Thanks for the encouragement. I seem to be getting better. Regardless if I ever learn what caused these strange health problems, I will continue to do the work I love to do as long as I have the power.

Hi Im not sure if this will make you feel better or not but I have the same problem. It started out on my inner thighs and it just wasnt little spots it covered over half of them both. I waited a few hours because I thought was because of stress, I looked again and it had spread to my arms, armpits, chest, belly, lower back, and started to creep its way down my legs. I got nervous I went to the er. They got scared because with in 15 mins it went to my neck, face, hands, the rest of my legs and feet. This was Friday. They put me on some pills, one of them I took 3 at once and the other 1 three times a day. I am done one set of pills but I still have the hives on my hands, feet, and face. They come and go on my arms. Im not sure even if you can help me but I itch alot. I mainly break out over night because Im not taking anything while I sleep. Please let me know what they have found out if you dont mind. Thank you very much.

Wow! That sounds rough, Becky! I hope you are getting better now.
They never did find out what was wrong with me. It could be that I was allergic to the antibiotic I had after my surgery. My body was dealing with an inflammatory disease. I am happy to say it seems to be better, but it took 9 months to get over it.
You may have had some environmental toxin that stimulated your body’s reaction. Can you recall if you touched anything unusual the day your symptoms showed up?
